Grace Hooper, Ph. D., is my hero, also US Navy vet (me too) but dr. grace invented COBOL, my first language, on punch cards (DO NOT FOLD, SPINDLE, MUTILATE). IN 1964 at bsu.edu i learned enough code to prgram an IBM Mainframe for a salary payroll for a small company. We probably had about 64K ram.
(David Lettermans) is an alum also and bsu.edu is still great with tech.
she was a little before my time but i think in 1946 found a moth in the computer she built and duly noted "a bug inside" the machine was the problem not the code. Women are great with math and computers, i have found, as they are emerging goddesses in all the sciences. they seem to 'git er done' with (G)grace
